Aloha, Oy!

I must be adopted. I have been repeatedly chastized because no one else in my family will drink rum. It's the tropical thing to drink! Add in the evidence with bell peppers and spicy foods and there's no way I'm related. Still, I'm glad that they will bring me along on vacation.

Hawaii is amazing. Despite being pinched by a crab and constantly finding new ways to tear up my feet, I am already considering looking for a post-doc out here and continuing my physics education (contingent on my finding out if this state actually has any industry outside of pineapple and coconut, in which case I may still want to enter the work force). And I'm already getting a lot of color: red.

The sad thing is that I'm alone in my age group (over 21) at our small hotel. The guests are mostly parents and kids or not-so-young couples. But there have been a couple of instances where a fine young lady turns out not to be the jailbait she looks, albeit still too young to go hit the bars. I will have to venture out into Waikiki or Honolulu to find the party scene.

I went surfing today, which was amazing; I was able to stand up on a couple waves! The Beach Boys were right. It is an activity that interests me but I still need to work on my upper body strength bad. I also had an interesting late night conversation in Japanese with the 11-year old kids of a Japanese conference or something that was here; they know such lovely English phrases as "sexual harrassment", "blowjob", and "suck his cock". I'm glad to know many conversations are universal.

Time for me to get off this computer and enjoy some more amazing sun!

Come back from Hawaii already. I'm bored.
